A petition to sign
Following the decision of the Foundation for Conductive Education to make redundant the post of Librarian at the National Library of Conductive Education, we the undersigned respectively and most urgently request that the Foundation for Conductive Education take all necessary steps to ensure that the functions and services of the National Library of Conductive Education should continue and develop, to the benefit of the whole international conductive community

Why close the only CE Library? Keep it opened, for the development of CE outside of Hungary, please.

My daughter is a recipient of the services practiced under Conductive Education. This therapy is valuable and critical to many children with severe physical disabilities. Please continue and develop this important role.
Without such resources we cannot hope to cater effectively for people with disabilities. We need to be opening specialist libraries not closing them.

In many ways the library is CE, and now it will not be maintained. A library without a librarian is a dead library.
We need a CE professional library worldwide. We have one! SAVE IT!
We are talking about THE National Library of Conductive Education here. How can we abandon an international resource such as this? What earthly use is any library without a knowledgeable and experienced librarian?
Save the library
Any and all literature, especially evidence-based practice research is essential for any service- delivery – therefore it is vital that this library continue.
Utterly incredible that anyone would take away such a pivotal role. It undermines the drive forward for CE. Who was accountable for such a decision?
The decision to make the librarian at NICE redundant seems both ill-considered and short sighted. In terms of the post, it risks the future for the sake of a small present gain. In terms of the individual, the absence of Gill Maguire at the Foundation with her years of experience, her commitment and expertise and her many contacts can only have a negative impact on the present and serious consequences in the long term.
I sign the petition as Director of Move & Walk/Sweden and as the Head of the Swedish Conductor Association.
You have no idea how lucky you are to have such a library. I was lucky enough to find out about CE through a cousin who read an article about it, we immediately made the contacts to go to Hungary, with great results to the children who were able to travel from Chile to Hungary!
These books, notes and documents are not replaceable so it is vital for the future of Conductive Education to have them and be able to look back on the original documents and notes.
We need our library as it is a key asset to the practice of Conductive Education!
Surely without a librarian, the content of the library will stop at 2009, and any future relevant publications etc will not be available to those who need them.

The library is unique in the whole Europe- thousands of professionals need it. You can put my name on this particular petition but I do not want to be contacted about other campaigns or petitions.
The librarian is important!
Obviously, this is a library very well worth saving.
This library is a vital resource which should be maintained.
This is a world-class library service. It would be such a loss to the world community in the area of Conductive Education.
This decision is equivalent to taking a wheel of your car and them trying to drive it around as if all is normal!! The trouble with this situation is – you will only realise the true stupidity and folly of the decision until after the event. An urgent reappraisal is vital and a must.
Conductors from every corner of the globe have looked to the Institute of Conductive Education as a centre of excellence and knowledge where they could find and research information - the only library of its kind in the world – all possibilities should be exhausted before this unique facility is lost.

Information is the key to future development and should not be subjected to obstacles.
Would it really solve the financial problems of the National Institute? I do not think so. We still have to believe there are other ways to preserve what is important!
A library without a librarian just simply cannot function!!!

A significant and unique collection such as this deserves the services of a professional librarian. The collection is too important to allow it to become neglected; without attention from a dedicated librarian the collection is in danger of stagnating and dissemination of knowledge, so vital to practitioners, is likely to cease.
This is a very important collection for everybody, who is interesting about conductive education. The hard work to collect these books in the last years could be an other reason to save the library.This most important institution must be allowed to continue its vitally important work.

It’s very important to maintain this library.
It would be such a shame to close this library. it would be an almost irreplaceable loss to our profession.
I think it is crucial that this valuable asset should be maintained, with the continuing support of the Librarian - who should be reinstated.
Gill has been immensely helpful to me when I was trying to find literature for my dissertation. When there is so little published material available, I believe it is extremely important to retain the services of such a knowledgeable person.
This is the one person that must be saved from this recession.
It is the future of the library that is important here. For a library to be of real use it needs to be kept up to date, be a living library, be able to keep others up to date, maintain awareness of new resources, provide an information and enquiry service. To achieve this, a professional dedicated librarian is needed. Conductors do Conductive Education, librarians run and maintain libraries, neither can do the others work and that is how it should be. I hope the National Library gets the staff it deserves and is able to go forward successfully and continue to build up its resources.
I just cannot imagine being where I am without the help and support that was provided by many people including importantly Gill.
Save this important and valuable resource to enable students to study appropriately and to enhance the work of Conductive Education.
