TWITTER

Last updated: 1 July 2009

Conductive World has gone on Twitter, to boost the amount that the fast-growing worldwide Twitter community has something to find when it uses that system's new search engine to find "Conductive Education".

All new articles and other features on Conductive World (both .info and .com) are now notified routinely on Twitter (and the CE-Library and Conductor blogs are now doing the same). Other uses will also be developed. As numbers of users/followers grow, it is expected that Twitter will develop a variety of end-user applications on and around Conductive Education.

Conductive World's username on Twitter is ceworld

So far there are CE-tweeters from the UK, the US, Germany and Norway. No others have been spotted yet but Twitter's user-growth is exponential so it won't be long...

We live in a highly competitive world. Don't miss a trick. Don't get left behind.

What can Twitter do?

Who knows? That will be up to those who use it. For an introductory note on potential end-user benefits, see:

That item was published on 8 June. It is already out of date It cited April's unrest in Moldova to illustrate the power of Twitter. Moldova 's affairs will have evaded most readers' attention but not the subsequent events in Iran that have brought home Twitter's potential force and implications to politically aware people everywhere. This is included in a second item on Conductive World:

Some references to first tentative critical evaluations of this are offered at the foot of this item.

How quick will the world of Conductive Education be to generate some of its own end-user applications?

  • seek information
  • pass on news, rumours, pletyka
  • communicate what is happening, instantly, in real time, now
  • rally supporters
  • ask about things that you have heard
  • trace old friends, colleagues, employees
  • announce that you are looking for a job
  • advertise that you have jobs available to be filled
  • look for CE services, for adults and children
  • advertise your services
  • announce updates to your website
  • buy and sell equipment
  • announce publications, events, anything
  • enquire about training, about anything
  • make new contacts and links
  • communicate privately
  • establish networks
  • etc, etc, etc...

All this is done instantly, free of charge, in any language that you like, to be read by anyone in the world who cares to look. If you wish, it can be done anonymously.

There is minimal control or censorship and you can communicate privately too. Great for revolutions, especially spontaneous movements with no particular leaders (sound famliar?).

No particular skill is needed, and a tweet takes about a minute to write, a lot less to read.

At the moment a search for "Conductive Education" shows just how small (and coy) our field dtill is. Try some other terms, like "physical therapy" or "cerebral palsy", to find more vigorous usage already emerging.

Twitter is accessible both through the Internet and by mobile phone (cellphone, Handi).
